Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Some people go for fancy hotels, but I'll always find places like this most memorable. Beautiful bamboo architecture over a little lake full of fish. Each "room" consists of a lower floor with a bathroom and open-plan living space, and an upper floor as a bedroom. All spacious and completely unique. The hosts are very nice and friendly, an older Vietnamese couple and their son who speaks fluent English. She cooks the food, the meals are homely and authentic. There are some friendly cats and some small, grumpy (but cute) dogs. Sa Dec doesn't see a lot of foreigners, so locals are very excited to meet you and say hello.

Negative: None of this especially bothered me personally at the time, but has to be mentioned: - there are a lot of mosquitoes. Bring repellant. Nets are provided. - the rooms have no locks. It's remote enough that I can't imagine there being crime, but I wouldn't bring a fancy laptop or filming equipment or whatever here. - there is no hot water for showers. - if you don't like insects and prefer your accommodation sanitised from the outside world, you might be in for a bad time.

Summary: I think I will remember this place for as long as I live.
