A short walk (or shuttle ride) away from the ski slopes and shops and restaurants ofTeton Village, Shooting Star shapes a haute alpine experience.
Designed by renowned local architect John Carney, the Lodge re-imagines the western barn as a gracious yet spacious space. The hospitality begins even before you step foot inside, with a covered porch framing the front door—the perfect spot to congregate before leaving on an adventure. The foyer, as functional as it is stylish, offers an ample coat closet and access to the two-car garage. Just beyond, the great room beckons with its soaring scale, plush seating and flowing configuration. A wall of picture windows stands as tall as the cathedral ceiling and the two-story stone fireplace, which makes the mountains the focal point of the room. The living area, facing the barn wood mantel, is defined by two sofas, matching armchairs with vibrant cushions, a leather-accented coffee table, and a slab bench for fireside seating. Iron floor lamps brighten the intimate arrangement, and a flat-screen TV hides behind a barn wood panel. In the adjacent dining area, woven chairs surround a stained dining table, headed up by upholstered armchairs for the hosts. A barn wood bar borders the dining area, allowing for entertaining ease. Above the expanse, a candelabra chandelier lends soft illumination.
To the east, the gourmet kitchen features every trapping imaginable from a gas stove and stainless steel appliances to sage-colored granite countertops and a wide island—all within the rustic confines of barnwood cabinetry. Studded barstools—upholstered in white leather—create a perch for culinary spectating, and industrial pendants add modern flare.
Beyond the great room, a flagstone porch enables outdoor entertaining with a gas grill, long dining table, and large lounging area—all overlooking a babbling brook, all facing the Tetons. A connected enclosed porch lures with is cozy fireplace, breakfast table and two armchairs.
Back inside, sleeping quarters fill the rest of the first floor and upstairs. A suite down the hall from the great room features a king bed backed by a headboard upholstered in a modern paisley print—a piece that sets the room’s subtle palette of warm grays and blues. Sculptural concrete lamps top ashen nightstands, and a powder blue throw drapes across the bed. A plush armchair carves out a reading nook, and amenities inside the ensuite bathroom include graceful sconces, a granite double vanity and board-and-batten cupboards.
The second floor unfolds with two more bedrooms and a versatile media room. The first guest bedroom offers two twin beds (convertible to a king), backed by studded headboards. Accents include a slate-blue armchair and a chest of drawers. The ensuite bath includes a double vanity and lamp sconces.
Down the hall, the master bedroom boasts sweeping views of the valley framed by two walls of windows. The king bed is topped by a pintuck quilt and fur throw, and flanked by a stone fireplace. A seating area invites unwinding in one of its two velvet armchairs. Work can be done at an antique desk. The ensuite bath offers a soaking tub, double granite vanity and glass rain shower.
The neighboring media room—a shape-shifting space—can morph with multiple configurations. Outfitted with built-in shelving, large flat-screen TV and a textured sleeper sofa, the room can accommodate socializing, sleeping as well as seclusion. A towering tree scene by local artist Mike Piggott casts a magical ambiance.
The many amenities found inside the Lodge are rivaled only by the myriad of diversions that lie just beyond the property. Teton Village, Downtown Jackson, and the National Parks are all just minutes aw
