This spacious 4-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home is full of rustic charm with a splash of mid-century flair. Think cozy wood-burning fireplace, huge windows that make you feel like you're living in the trees, and enough comfy nooks to curl up in with a book or a bottle of wine.
Outside? Pure magic. A huge private pool and bar make it easy to soak it all in. There are decks on both sides of the house, a dreamy gazebo, a frog pond, and plenty of space to wander, nap in the sun, or stargaze with friends.
Inside, you’ll find two king beds, one queen bed, two singles and a double pull-out couch. All this and a cozy TV room, two cozy living spaces, and a desk with monitor for those mixing work with play.
Love nature and convenience? You’re minutes from Bowen’s best — Grafton Lake, cute pubs and restaurants, local shops and artisan studios, and the Bowen Island Cidery.
Getting here is a breeze — just a 20-minute ferry from Horseshoe Bay, and under $50 round trip for a car and two people. You can go from downtown Vancouver to poolside prosecco in just over an hour.
Well-behaved dogs (max. 2) are welcome — just be sure to clean up after their adventures and keep them on leash outside of the fenced backyard.
GETTING TO THE ISLAND
BC Ferries provides vehicle and foot passenger ferry service between Snug Cove and Horseshoe Bay. The Queen of Capilano leaves Horseshoe Bay between the hours of 5:45 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The crossing time is 20 minutes. All tickets include return fare. When you depart Bowen you will not be asked to show your receipt. Be aware that ticket sales close ten minutes prior to the scheduled sailing and sometimes there are lineups to purchase tickets, so give yourself enough time.
Cormorant Marine provides charter services, please visit their website for more information.
ON THE ISLAND
There are three community transit bus routes operated by TransLink. The 280 Bluewater runs from Snug Cove towards the western side of the island, turning around at Spyglass Road. The 281 Eagle Cliff runs from Snug Cove along the eastern side of the island to Hood Point and back. The 282 Mt. Gardner runs on weekends only. Buses generally arrive to and leave Snug Cove with the arrival/departure of the ferry, but there are some exceptions. Please go to the Translink website and search for the route number to find the schedule, or use Google trip planner.
Perhaps the most exciting way to get around is by renting a LSV from Bowen eBikes. LSV’s are different from Golf Carts, in that they have mirrors, signal lights, licence plates, and seatbelts. LSV’s are road legal, and are great for groups of 4 looking to enjoy the day.
Bowen eBikes is currently the only operation to offer eBikes for rent. You can , or walk up day of for rentals. Even if you aren’t looking to use a bike, they have great information on where to go and what to do for most of the year.
For those driving, make sure to have a full tank of gas, especially in the summer. The Bowen Island Gas Station is closed on Saturdays and Sundays and can restrict fuelling of vehicles to $50 max/day OR may cut off non-residents entirely if there is a fuel shortage. This happens at least a few weekends a summer.
Pool is NOT heated, however gets direct sunlight all afternoon and gets to a lovely temperature on its own through the summer months. It will be winterized at the beginning of October until May long weekend.
The 2X single bedroom is open to the media room (with sofa bed) and does not have its own door. The media room has a glass door to the hallway.
The master bedroom has an attached closet with a wall that does not go all the way up to the ceiling. While the bedroom is visually private, noise travels between the living room and master bedroom.
The home is located at the top of a hilly drive—please keep this in mind if you are taking public transit to the property.
There are a significant number of stairs both inside and outside the property—the house is not suitable to people or pets with mobility concerns.
