Positive: It was clean. The gym was ok. Free laundry was a great perk. The laundry service was a delight. Most of that staff were nice and friendly. We did get a farewell gift with two packages of traditional Lanzhou tea.

Negative: First of all. I was given a document in Chinese, that I had to sign. I do not find it fair at all. When I said, that I don't want to sign a document in a language I do not understand I was told that it is just a formality. I was not given opportunity to have a look at a translated document and had to sign it. I felt really wrong. The second. In the room, there were no closet, no drawers, basically no storage area. I guess it was a designer's goal, but because of this, the room is really not suitable for stays longer then two nights... Third and the most crucial thing was that the air condition was not working. When I told this to the staff, they said it works. But only as heater. When I book a room with A/C, I expect the AC to be working. Especially when the room naturally heats up to 27°C. It was so warm in our room, that we couldn't sleep. The reception offer to change our room to one where the windows could be opened. But this room was on the other side, without the river view facing a rush boulevard. It was still better than trying to fall asleep in 27° heat. I also want to point out the behaviour of the staff. While majority was friendly and trying to be helpful, it was undermined by the acts of those acted almost hostile. We have arrived at 10 pm and hotel was not able to charge any of my cards. Knowing that this happens commonly in China I have offered that if they wouldn't mind, I would find an ATM and pay with cash the other day. The personel agreed. The other day I went out to get breakfast and while walking back I was in a very unfriendly tone told, that if would not pay today, I will be evicted. This was rather rude. Also when booking thru booking.com, the prices seem to be much higher that at the price list shows at the reception desk. I have chosen this hotel because it is close to my grandparents apartment. I went to Lanzhou to visit them. But i would not suggest anyone to stay there.
